- Happy New Year
Better late than never—Happy New Year.
We rang in the New Year with the whole family at a ski resort and have since returned to Tokyo. Then we visited Senso-ji Temple.
It’s been 15 years since we launched CANVAS and 7 years since we launched DiTT.
Workshops are now being held all over the place, and
the legal framework for digital textbooks and other materials is being established, programming education is becoming mandatory, and the Act on the Promotion of Information Technology in Education—which encompasses these initiatives—is steadily taking shape.
When we formulated our activity guidelines in 2005 based on domestic and international research, we actually wrote that once we’d promoted these efforts, the “Act on the Promotion of Children’s Use of Digital Technology” would be enacted (*^^*)
The situation has changed considerably since 2002, when we began our activities.
I hope to make 2018 a year for thinking about what we need to do over the next 15 years and taking that first step.
Over the past few years, I’ve been prioritizing my “personal” time over my public commitments, so I’ve been aiming for a gentle, steady pace, but
this year, I hope to be a bit more active, so
I look forward to your continued support this year!
I sincerely hope that 2018 will be a wonderful year for all of you.
