- AI and Education: Symposium, Working Group Launch, and Survey Request
Today’s DiTT Symposium: “Considering Education in the Age of AI.”I served as moderator again, following yesterday’s session. Participants included
RIKEN, AIST, NICT, as well as KDDI Research, Classi, and Recruit—a mix of AI researchers and users of AI in education.
This symposium also served as the kickoff for the AI × Education Working Group, which will begin its activities next week.
Three researchers consistently emphasized the need for “data” and expressed a “desire for collaboration with the educational field.” The discussion concluded with a consensus that “a platform for open innovation must be established.”
I hope the DiTT Working Group will fulfill that role.
We’ll revisit the key points within the working group, but for now, the topics raised today were roughly as follows…・Presenting a vision for learning environments in the
AI era, along with its demonstration and verification
; designing platforms for industry-academia collaboration; promoting the utilization of
data; opening up educational data
; and establishing an environment for
data utilization (personal information guidelines, rights management, standardization)
. We are conducting a survey in preparation for the working group meetings. If you’d be so kind, please help us out.

It has been seven years since DiTT was founded. Policies have been announced regarding the development of a legal framework for digital textbooks and other materials, the mandatory implementation of programming education, and the drafting of a promotion law that encompasses these initiatives.
DiTT will continue to dedicate itself to this field and move forward so that we can present a vision of learning that goes one step further.
“Action over discussion!”—this has become something of a motto for DiTT, and we will continue to move forward without losing sight of that spirit.
