- [Report] After-School Creative Project
From a CANVAS Facebook post
*******************************************
To enrich the after-school experiences of many children, we conduct workshops at after-school facilities designed to foster their creativity and imagination.
On Tuesday, September 19, we held the “Mysterious Sound Device” event at Wakuwaku Akanishi Hiroba.
There are so many sounds in the world we live in.
This time, we focused on the resonance of the human voice.
How does sound travel?
How does the sound (voice) change when you change the source of the sound?
The first half of the workshop consisted of an experiment. We played a message-passing game using
everyday materials (plastic wrap tubes), and each group had fun while listening carefully to each other’s soft voices.
In the second half, we built a mysterious sound device.
We replaced the part that transmits sound—which was originally a tube used in the experiment—with a wire spring.
After finishing the project, we experienced firsthand the resonance and changes in our own voices and those of our friends as they came out of the mysterious sound device.
The sound of voices speaking and laughing
—high, low
, soft, loud
, gentle, or strong…
the infinite range of the sounds that voices can produce.
Whether you're alone, with one other person, or in a large group—this sound device is guaranteed to be fun for everyone! That's the "Mysterious Sound Device."
You may discover your own unique ways to use it—such as giving the gift of a voice filled with emotion—and it might just become one of the items that captures the spirit of this fall.
