- Digital Ehon Awards Ceremony!
Digital Ehon Award Ceremony! This year, we received entries from a record-high 32 countries.
Attendees traveled all the way from Germany, Denmark, Chile, and Thailand to join us at the ceremony,
and we also welcomed participants from the embassies of the Philippines, Norway, Poland, and France, among others, making for a truly international event.
Of course, we also had participants from all across Japan, which was truly touching.
We’ll create a page introducing the winning works at a later date, but for now, here’s a quick update on the results.
New initiatives this year included the establishment of the Digital Educational Materials Award and the Sesame Street Award.
Additionally, although it wasn’t originally planned, we received so many entries from children that we decided to create a “Kids’ Award” during the judging process.
The International Digital Ehon Fair, held in conjunction with the awards, featured 624 works from 48 countries and was bustling with activity all day long. It has been five years since we launched the Digital Ehon Awards with the goal of pioneering
new realms of expression, and over these five years, the event has achieved remarkable growth in both quality and quantity.
In the first year, a digital adaptation of a famous picture book won the Grand Prize. We began by digitizing print books.
In the second year, a work by a middle school student won an award. This made us realize that anyone can be a creator of Digital Ehon.
In the third year, we received numerous entries from overseas, making us realize that Digital Ehon truly transcends national borders.
In the fourth year, a work combining cardboard and a smartphone won the award. Digital Ehon began to break free from tablets and smartphones and fuse with various other fields.
And now, in the fifth year, we have received numerous entries that foreshadow a new era, making full use of cutting-edge technologies such as AR, and the scope of their application is expanding from the home to educational settings.I’m already looking forward to seeing what kind of entries we’ll receive
next year. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who
participated, everyone who provided support and sponsorship, the judges,
and everyone who helped create the Digital Ehon Award together.
Thank you very much!
And to all the winners, congratulations once again!
