[Press Release] “Qualities and Abilities Cultivated Through Programming Education” Event Held

To All Members of the Press

Thank you very much for your continued support.

CANVAS, a Specified Nonprofit Corporation, will host a symposium—in collaboration with Benesse Corporation (Headquarters: Okayama) and co-hosted by the Digital Textbook and Educational Materials Council—on the topic of standards for the qualities and competencies cultivated through programming education.

In 2020, it was decided that programming education would become mandatory starting in elementary school, but standards for developing the curriculum have not yet been established.Benesse Corporation and CANVAS have
now begun collaborating with universities and companies to develop these standards. At
this symposium, we will discuss the standards for the qualities and competencies to be cultivated through programming education, drawing on the current state of programming education in other countries and perspectives on educational policy.

We realize you are very busy, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could announce the event through your publication and cover it on the day of the event. We would be most grateful if you could consider our request. If
your publication decides to cover the event, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.
