■ Initiatives in the Hokuriku and Koshinetsu Regions
○ Toyama Prefecture
・Toyama City: Utilizing DeNA’s “App Zemi”
○ Ishikawa Prefecture
・Uchinada Town: Deployed tablet devices to all elementary schools (5 schools) in the town
・Tsuhata Town: Published a case study on the introduction of 105 tablets to NEC/Tsuhata Town elementary schools
○ Niigata Prefecture
・Sekikawa Village: Introduced tablet devices for 5th and 6th graders at Sekikawa Elementary School in Heisei 25
・Yuzawa City: Installed 33 tablet devices and a wireless LAN environment at an integrated elementary-middle school
・Niigata City: Plans to increase the percentage of elementary and middle schools equipped with tablet PCs from the current 5% to 100% by fiscal year 2018.
Work is also proceeding to ensure the educational network is operational by fiscal year 2018.
・Tsubame City: As part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ “ICT Kizuna Project” in fiscal year 2010, one elementary school was equipped with one tablet PC per student in third grade and above and one per teacher, as well as electronic whiteboards and a wireless LAN environment.
○ Nagano Prefecture
・Ina City: Starting in July Heisei 26, devices were deployed to all elementary and junior high schools in the city (15 and 6 schools, respectively) at a ratio of one tablet per four elementary students and one per two junior high students.
・Nagano Prefecture: By fiscal year Heisei 25, 131 tablet devices were deployed to 16 special needs schools within the prefecture.
・Nagano City: In fiscal year 2010, Shiozaki Elementary School participated as a pilot school in the “Future School Promotion Project,” and
provided one tablet PC per student and teacher, along with interactive whiteboards and a wireless LAN environment.
○ Yamanashi Prefecture
・Showa Town: Tablet devices were deployed to all elementary schools from fiscal year Heisei 24 through fiscal year Heisei 25.

After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
