- [Call for Participants] Children’s Media Lab: “Children and Design”
◆Announcement: Children’s Media Lab (Talk Event for Adults)
“Children and Design” – Tuesday, June 28, starting at 1:00 PM! ◆
A learning space for adults to comprehensively explore the relationship between children and media and create new value.
The theme for the 12th session is “Children and Design.”
We are pleased to welcome Hisae Igarashi of Igarashi Design Studio as our guest!
Ms. Igarashi’s work ranges from commercial space design—including “TSUMORI CHISATO” and “une nana cool”—to
furniture design for brands like “TANGO,” and the development of playground equipment such as the “Jaketsu Soft Dome Slider” and “seed”— all guided by her philosophy of “clothing, food, shelter, and upbringing,” she has been active in a wide range of fields, from product design to interior design.
Ms. Igarashi’s space designs—which create a sense of security where everyone can be their true self—have
captivated countless people over the years.
Her design for “familiar PRESCHOOL,” a daycare center operated by a long-established Japanese baby clothing brand, gives the feeling of being gently embraced by someone.
Additionally, “Seed,” a play structure for young children where they can slide, crawl through tunnels, and lie down in the recessed areas,
stimulates children’s curiosity in multiple ways and,
like a “seed,” helps the seeds of their creativity sprout.
It’s a comfortable space not only for children but also for adults.
And for some reason, the design fills you with a bright, gentle feeling.
What kind of thoughts and feelings are embedded in Ms. Igarashi’s work?
What does she value, what does she aim for, and what kind of works does she continue to bring into the world?
We’d like to explore the appeal of Mr. Igarashi, who has captivated so many children and adults.
