- Yuichi Kimura: An Exhibition of Works Created Through Trial and Error
Even though Cancer ranked first on “Mezamashi TV” today,
I had a sad morning because I couldn’t answer a single question on “Tokudane!”’s “Brain-Activating Johnny” segment.
Well, starting this week, amu is hosting an exhibition of works by picture book author Yuichi Kimura!!!
Starting with his bestseller *On a Stormy Night* (Kodansha),
Mr. Kimura has created numerous popular picture books over the years, but
he also has many unpublished works.
Including new pieces created specifically for this exhibition, we’ll be displaying a total of over 40 original illustrations.
In addition, we plan to showcase his ceramic and calligraphy works, which have never been displayed before.
These six days will offer a chance to see picture book artist Yuichi Kimura from every angle.
Please come visit the “Yuichi Kimura: Trial and Error Exhibition”!
Also, during the exhibition, Mr. Kimura and I will be hosting a talk event♪
“What Can Be Conveyed Through a Few Words and Pictures—Yuichi Kimura × Nanako Ishido”
Why do picture books, with so few words and illustrations, have the power to draw us into their world, stir our emotions, and make us want to read them over and over again?
Mr. Kimura’s *On a Stormy Night* has been adapted for the stage and screen—it’s a work that transcends the boundaries of the picture book genre.
Let’s explore the secrets behind such a work together.
We’ll examine picture books as a form of exceptional storytelling and explore how communication can effectively reach people with such minimal information.
