[Kids Creative Lab in Daikanyama]

This November's Kids Creative in Daikanyama features a program focused on language!

In the preschool class, we have “Let’s Play with Names,” an activity where kids get to know the word that’s closest to them—their own names.After looking at and saying out loud together the names of mysterious creatures and town names that make you burst out laughing—asking, “Do you know names
like these?”—the children use their eyes, mouths, and hands to interact with their own names and their friends’ names in all sorts of ways.

In the elementary school class, students create a dictionary that looks just like a specimen collection: the “Shin Meikai Personal Dictionary.” After collecting
words—much like collecting insects—they break the words down!
“Magic,” “elevator,” “trapdoor”……They break down the “appearance” and “meaning” of various words into their separate parts and collect them.
Each student created their very own original personal dictionary.

At Daikanyama SodaCCo, we hold the Kids Creative Lab on the fourth Sunday of every month!
We’re currently accepting applications for classes from January through March of next year!

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
