≪Study Session Overview≫
We spoke with Mr. Lee of Classting Co., Ltd. about the “Classting” service, focusing on the background behind the company’s founding, its expansion in Japan, and future business plans.
“Classting” is South Korea’s largest educational social networking service and began expanding into Japan in 2015.“Classting” is used in over 90 percent of elementary schools in South Korea and is expanding globally to countries such as China, Taiwan, and the U.S.
The service’s key features are threefold: “creating a safe and convenient means of communication,” “sharing learning materials,” and “fast, accurate communication functions.” It is used by teachers to monitor students’ academic progress and daily life, as a means for students to
, and by parents to stay informed about their children’s school life. For sharing learning materials, the service allows users to share files and URLs, enabling students to
progress at their own pace. Teachers can now upload content that cannot be fully covered in class
to the social network, allowing them to focus their lessons on discussions and experiments.
Information about what to bring to class and emergency notifications can also be sent through “Classting.” In the lower grades of elementary school,
information from teachers may not always be conveyed accurately, but by sending the same information to parents as well,
it ensures reliable communication.
Today’s children are known as the “digital native” generation and can easily use
, but teachers often feel a generation gap when it comes to new educational services. We want to focus our efforts on creating an educational service that meets the needs of both students and teachers. Going forward, we will also prioritize the creation of learning content and aim to provide content based on users’ learning data.
