Earth Communication: The Power to Communicate, Connect, and Expand

“Igniting a Spiral of Creativity! The World’s Most Advanced Creative Education”

Guest: Nanako Ishido, Representative of the NPO CANVAS

■━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━■

Nanako Ishido, Representative of the NPO CANVAS, has created numerous workshops where children use new technologies to enhance their creativity and expressive abilities, including the “Workshop Collection”—an event that attracts a total of 100,000 participants over two days.

Recently, it has become common to see many workshops for children on weekends.
CANVAS’s mission is to provide creative learning opportunities to children across Japan.
Ms. Ishido has been carrying out this work for 13 years since founding CANVAS.

When developing and conducting workshops, she places great importance on the “feel → think → create → share (→ feel)” spiral of thought.

She also values creating spaces where children can share and exchange their creative works on a global scale.
Believing that the ability to utilize digital devices and the internet is essential for this, she has recently been focusing her efforts on developing workshops that incorporate digital technology. For example, the range of digital programs is diverse, including music created collaboratively by children connecting online, stop-motion animations made together with children from around the world, programming, and Digital Ehon.

Nanako Ishido, who has observed numerous learning environments for children overseas, will speak about the background behind the establishment of CANVAS and the potential of cutting-edge creative education worldwide.
