[After-School Creative Project]

To enrich the after-school experiences of many children, we conduct workshops at after-school facilities designed to nurture their creativity and imagination.

On Monday, September 28, we held an “Air Sculpture” workshop at the Yamato After-School Club!

Today we’re learning about “air.” When I asked the children
,
“Where is ‘air’? Can you see it?” they gave me all sorts of answers. One child told me,
“You can see air when you breathe out on a cold day!” I couldn’t help but agree—it really made sense.

We catch air and use it to make all kinds of shapes.
Catching air… How do you think we do that?
This time, we used a certain item—the kind you use to hold an umbrella on a rainy day—to catch air and create shapes.

Some children worked together with their friends to create things, while others made shapes so large they had to figure out how to carry them home. There were even children who made fishing rods out of air and enjoyed fishing!
Air can be a material for creating things.
The photos show some of the various shapes and creative ideas the children made using air.
