[
Summer Camp Programming Workshop Has Come to a Close!] The two-day “Let’s Make Our Own Musical Instruments!” summer camp programming
workshop, held on August 4–5, has successfully concluded, and the final presentation was a huge hit!
This workshop focused on creating original musical instruments using everyday materials and programming, with the help of Scratch and Makey Makey—a circuit board that turns anything into a controller.

On the final day, our assignment was not just to play the instruments we had made, but to put on a performance that synchronized sound and visuals.
We had to use Makey Makey to experiment with the instruments’ designs and playing techniques, and we also had to use Scratch to program the sounds and the animations that would sync with them.

At the recital, a whole host of novel instruments we’d never seen before were unveiled, including an electronic piano where the characters move in time with the music, a conductor’s baton that starts a round of “The Frog’s Song” the moment you bring it down (and it even makes a sound as a musical instrument!), and instruments that can be attached to your body or objects so you can play them anywhere.

Just like in a picture book, the story unfolded through a series of slides, and instruments were even created to play music that matched each scene—everyone was amazed by the children’s rich imagination and high-level performances!
I’m really looking forward to seeing what interesting things they’ll create once they get home, drawing on this experience!
