6th Exhibition: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” Exhibition—
Playing and Learning with Color. Monday, March 2, 2015 – Saturday, August 29, 2015. A special exhibition themed around the best-selling picture book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” beloved by readers
around the world.Under the theme “Play and Learn with Color,” visitors can learn about the creative techniques of picture book author Eric Carle and experience new ways to enjoy the book by making postcards using 160 different types of colored paper.

Based on the best-selling picture book *The Very Hungry Caterpillar*, which is loved by people all over the world, this project was designed so that people of all ages can enjoy the book’s vibrant world.

Visitors can see the creative process of author Eric Carle, and the world of *The Very Hungry Caterpillar* is faithfully recreated. The theme is “color.”
We set up a craft corner featuring 160 different types of colored paper. We set up a “materials wall” featuring 160 types of colored paper, inspired by Eric Carle’s vibrant use of color.

We also held a workshop where participants used colored paper to create art through cutting and pasting. They made their own original postcards and photo frames.

With digital coloring, you can even create your very own Hungry Caterpillar.

When you use the camera on the tablet installed in the exhibition space to take photos of various spots throughout the venue, an original “caterpillar” made up of a combination of the colors found there is created and displayed on the tablet screen. The caterpillar then eats the colors.

This "caterpillar" grows into a colorful butterfly and flutters across the screen in the venue's theater. The "caterpillars" created by visitors were also made publicly available on the website.

■Special Workshop
