- Superhuman Sports Association
Superhuman Sports is finally launching.
We announced the launch of the Superhuman Sports Committee at an event held as part of the “Digital New Year’s Party 2015,” organized by the Digital Signage Consortium and the Digital Textbook and Educational Materials Council.
I will also be participating as a board member.

About the Superhuman Sports Association
Since ancient times, sports have become increasingly sophisticated as a venue for exploring the body’s potential through play, as well as for challenging one’s own limits and engaging in friendly competition with peers.
Now that Tokyo has been selected to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Basic Act on Sports has been enacted, public awareness of sports is growing even further.
The Basic Act on Sports is the first law in Japan to explicitly codify the right to participate in sports, guaranteeing that everyone has the right to enjoy sports equally.
We aim to take this a step further and create a future where everyone can enjoy sports, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses, age, disabilities, or qualifications.
Superhuman Sports is a new sport that anyone can enjoy, anytime and anywhere.
Based on Augmented Human technology—which enables prosthetics, enhancements, and extensions—we are creating a new “human-machine integration” sport where participants acquire abilities that transcend their individual physical limits and compete on the field as “Superhumans.”
By using cutting-edge technologies—such as power assistance, miniature multicopters, telepresence, and special goggles—to treat superhuman abilities like superhuman strength, flight, teleportation, and superhuman dynamic vision as if they were their own natural abilities, participants will be able to enjoy sports from a whole new perspective.
Furthermore, we will create our own rules for this new sport and develop competitions suited to this new era.
We will also expand the sports field itself—including spectator experiences, training, and safety measures.
Based on this vision, on October 10, 2014—marking the 50th anniversary of the opening ceremony of the previous Tokyo Olympics—we launched the “Superhuman Sports Committee,” comprising researchers, designers, artists, and others, and have since been focusing our efforts on the research, development, and design of superhuman sports.
Now, to turn this into a full-scale project in collaboration with industry, government, and other sectors, we have decided to establish the “Superhuman Sports Society” (Superhuman Sports Society: abbreviated as “S3”)
based on the Superhuman Sports Committee.
