<HIGH School Teacher Training Session @ Okazaki Commercial High School>
Today, Wednesday, February 4, we held a programming training session for teachers at Aichi Prefectural Okazaki Commercial High School, led by Mr. Abe, who is under PEG supervision!
Thanks to an invitation from Mr. Takatsu, the head of the Information Processing Department at Okazaki Commercial High School, as many as 30 teachers from nearby high schools and representatives from the Board of Education participated.Topics such as the current state of
programming education, PEG’s past initiatives, and the Raspberry Pi seemed to be new to many of the teachers. After listening intently and taking notes, they got to try their hand at programming with the Raspberry Pi!
While many of the teachers were already comfortable with computers—since they regularly use tools like Excel in their classes—creating an ant simulator with Scratch and making an LED blink using GPIO were new experiences for them. It was impressive to see so many of them smiling unconsciously as they worked.
Many participants seemed genuinely interested in the Raspberry Pi, which offers so many possibilities for practical use in the classroom.
Furthermore, Vice Principal Mizuno from Okazaki Commercial High School has actually owned a Raspberry Pi for two years now and uses it as a security camera at home!
With so many teachers from this school participating, I could sense their strong commitment to evolving as a commercial high school.
We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Okazaki Commercial High School’s future initiatives!
