Today, I went to cover CoderDojo Izumi, organized by a group of volunteers led by Mr. Sunagane, a programmer from Miyagi Prefecture!
Today’s venue was the Teraoka Civic Center in Sendai. In Sendai, CoderDojo sessions are held at two locations: Izumi and Sendai.

The children are working on programming projects using Scratch and Pyonky, with their own Raspberry Pis, laptops, and iPads.
The children who attend Dojo regularly are each using their own Raspberry Pi!
The team using Raspberry Pis today was taking on the challenge of combining Minecraft and Scratch while learning about functions from Mr. Sunagane.

There were also many programmers who had gathered voluntarily, as well as plenty of parents, at the venue. The children created a wide variety of projects, asking adults for help
when they got stuck and showing their creations to their moms and dads right there on the spot.

CoderDojo Izumi serves as a place for adults in the community to connect and exchange information, as well as a space where children from different schools and age groups can play and learn together.
Last year, a project showcase was held at Tohoku University. Please stay tuned for our future initiatives in Miyagi!
