[Experiences That Can't Be Captured in a Tangible Form]
On Saturday, December 6, we held the Kids Creative Lab at Atelier BAUHAUS in Ryogoku.
The theme was “Imitation.”
We invited guests who have experience in physical expression and held a program that allowed participants to explore physical expression
through imitation.
"What's different?
" We
practiced observation through a spatial "spot the difference" game and then moved on to physical activities based on the
familiar game "Raise the red one, raise the white one." In
the preschool class, parents and children moved
their bodies together, while in the elementary school class, we imitated the children’s movements.
Walking, running, lying down—
these are
all movements we do every day, yet the room was filled with joyful sounds like “Ahaha!” and “Uhihaha!” As our
hearts opened up and we felt happier, our movements grew bigger and bigger.
I was able to see children I had thought were shy moving
their bodies
freely, their facial expressions becoming more expressive as they used their bodies to convey their “feelings,” and even see sides of them I had never
seen before.
