Last Sunday, we held a Raspberry Pi workshop at the Nakahara Hachinosuke Club in Mitaka City!
This club was established as part of a Mitaka City initiative called “Community Children’s Clubs,” which aims to create safe spaces for children by utilizing elementary schools after school hours.

The Nakahara Hachinosuke Club at Nakahara Elementary School holds “Everyone’s PC” sessions about 10 times a year, offering workshops that use Squeak and Scratch.
Professor Abe, who provides supervision for the club, has been involved as an instructor for a long time.

At last week's workshop, participants were divided into a morning introductory course and an afternoon advanced course to try out the Raspberry Pi.
Since they're already familiar with Scratch and Squeak, they picked up the Raspberry Pi really quickly!

In the afternoon session, we used GPIO to make blinking LEDs and game controllers.
It was so heartwarming to hear the cheers when they successfully made their characters move or got the LEDs to light up.
Their genuine reactions showed just how much fun they’re having at the club.
We plan to continue using Raspberry Pi next year as well! Please stay tuned for
future activities from the Nakahara Hachinosuke Club.
