[September 14 (Sun) HachiLab Programming Workshop]
On September 13, a programming workshop was held at
HachiLab, which is currently hosting the “Play, Create, and Unravel with Programming” exhibition.

Using the "Raspberry Pi"—a small computer also used in the "Magbot" on display—you'll get to try your hand at everything from
building a computer to creating games through programming, and even building
controllers that use electrical inputs and outputs!

After combining lots of equipment, we successfully powered up the little computer—with hearts pounding!
We used Scratch, a programming language for kids, to control the screen. We built controllers using a mechanism to turn
electricity on and off. Working in pairs, we brainstormed and built a mechanism to quickly toggle the power
on and off, and the “Cat Walking Contest”—where we made
the cat on the screen walk—was a huge hit!
Then came the free-project session, where they tackled the games and controllers they wanted to create. Although it was a long session
totaling five hours, many children were so engrossed that they kept saying, “There isn’t enough time!” They truly experienced the joy of what
programming can do to the fullest.

Hachilabo is hosting the “Play, Create, and Unravel Through Programming” exhibition through October 2!
