<A New Subject Taught Through Programming!>
Before the hands-on session, Mr. Asami from Miyagi University of Education Affiliated Junior High School—a PEG partner—gave us an overview of how the program is implemented at the school.
Starting this school year, the Affiliated Junior High School—selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s (MEXT) Research and Development Program—has decided to establish a new subject dedicated to programming!
By separating Technology and Home Economics, the school has conducted research aimed at fostering communication and collaboration skills unique to the digital age—such as through classes where students solve various problems and create things using programming, as well as lessons that incorporate ICT devices.
This is a school-wide initiative that involves analyzing data obtained from science experiments through programming and incorporating other subjects as well. I’m really looking forward to seeing
how this unfolds. Please be sure to keep an eye on the initiatives at
Miyagi University of Education Affiliated Junior High School!
