- amu = to knit
Thank you all so much for the many birthday messages.
Yesterday, I was also treated to a birthday celebration at the Tanabata Party @ amu.
“amu” (short for “amu,” meaning “to knit”) is a two-story creative space designed by architect Hiroshi Hara,
located about a three-minute walk from Ebisu. It was conceived as “architecture in the forest.”
The trees arranged to envelop the building and the light streaming in through the large skylights—which changes depending on the time of day and the weather—create a
variety of atmospheric effects. Yesterday, we held a planetarium show in that wonderful space.
I have the honor of serving as the representative of amu,
and I hope to host many workshops, talk events, and other activities in this space going forward.
Our
Tanabata gathering was a time to pray that amu will become a biotope where connections between people are forged and new cultures and forms of expression are born. If you’re ever in Ebisu, please be sure to stop by amu.
P.S. Someone put together a recap of
the Tanabata party
