At Shinagawa City Kyoyo Elementary School, Raspberry Pi devices were distributed to all students!
The children carry their Raspberry Pi devices with them—just like they would a paint set or calligraphy kit—to learn
programming.
Through PEG, the programming education project promoted by CANAVS, we provide various forms of support for school-wide implementation and
classroom instruction. Classes have
already begun, and the devices are being used across all grades in subjects such as Japanese language arts, science, and math.
During a recent Japanese language arts class, students took on the challenge of using programming to create a “homophone quiz.” We look forward to seeing how this initiative develops
in the future.

By the way, I hear that programming will also be added as a required subject in elementary schools in Finland starting in 2016.
