Scratch Day in Tokyo: Saturday, May 17

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 17, is Scratch Day in Tokyo.
It will be held at the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus. Scratch Day is a programming event held all over the world.
With programming as the theme, the event is packed with panel discussions, workshops, programming battles, teacher training sessions,
and hands-on experience areas featuring a variety of tools!

There will be three panel discussions: “Schools and Programming,” “Extracurricular Activities and Programming,” and “Us and Programming,” which will feature junior high and high school students as panelists.

There will also be eight different workshops, including one for “ScratchJr”—a programming environment for young children set to be released this summer by MIT!

A new feature this year is the Programming Battle—a competition where participants must complete a programming challenge based on a topic given on the spot within a set time limit!
Scratchers who are confident in their skills will compete against each other.

This event offers a great opportunity to see the current state of programming education. Please come and join us!
