The Aichi Gathering Has Begun!

Aichi Gathering—a community in Aichi where people interested in learning to program come together—has also kicked off!
I had actually planned to go until the day before, but had to cancel due to various circumstances… It’s a
shame, but I’m glad to hear it was a lively event!
I’m currently running a fever (lol), but it really lifted my spirits!

At the networking event and workshop for the PEG Programming Education Gathering
in Aichi, Professor Abe—in charge of PEG Supervision for CANVAS Kumai—will discuss topics such as “What exactly is PEG?
What inspired it? What kind of activities do we carry out? Why the Raspberry Pi? …and more
. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange questions
and deepen discussions with everyone—sharing insights that can’t be fully conveyed online but are possible only in a face-to-face setting!

<PEG×Aichi Event Held! People interested in—or already involved in—programming education gathered at Chukyo University.> Here are the participants in the lightning talks held
during the networking event.

〈Kawai Juku / Mr. Araki and Mr. Yoshioka〉Kawai Juku Gakuen Dolton School in
Tokyo and Nagoya offers
after-school programs and workshops in a variety of genres. Join us for a discussion on practical approaches to programming education combined with STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics)!

<MakerLabNagoya / Mr. Asao> “Maker Lab Nagoya,” the
city’s arts and crafts studio, is currently offering workshops for children using 3D printers, laser cutters, and more! They plan to hold a Raspberry Pi × Scratch workshop on Saturday, May 24.

〈LitteleCoderMie / Ms. Ishiguro〉
“LitteleCoderMie” regularly holds Scratch workshops for children in Mie Prefecture. Their website also features how-to guides on how to run these workshops and what they cover!

<HacerSpaceNagoya / Mr. Takagi> “HacerSpaceNagoya” is an
open-source maker community. It also operates “Hacker Co-op,” an online shop featuring products like the Raspberry Pi, and hosts various maker events. Check out their website to see projects created at the hackerspace and more!

〈To all graduate and undergraduate students at Chukyo University〉Featuring an explanation of Mr. Shida’s project—a computer cluster built using
Raspberry Pi—as well as an introduction to activities in Professors Miyata and Ueshiba’s labs. They’re currently involved in a wide range of activities, including the World Museum and the Workshop Collection!

<To all students at Sugiyama Jogakuen University>
We’re currently holding Scratch workshops for children at an after-school program in Aichi Prefecture. By combining Scratch with webcams, the children are creating animations featuring themselves. The kids’ ideas are really taking flight!
