≪Study Session Overview≫

At the 2014 International CES held in Las Vegas, USA, in January,
numerous news items and topics that will shape future trends were announced.
This presentation focuses on those that point to the direction of digital education
and offers a展望 of future trends.
The 2014 CES attracted approximately 152,000 visitors from more than 150 countries outside the U.S.,
with about 3,200 companies exhibiting across a record-breaking 2 million square feet of floor space.
More than 20,000 new products and services were unveiled.
The scope of innovations ranged from 4K/UHDTV and viewing environments, 4K content distribution, and curved or bendable displays,
to wearable technology—represented by smartwatches and smart glasses—
fashion wearables, 3D printers, smart TVs,
smart home appliances, robotics, smart fitness, next-generation automobiles,
sensor devices and sensor technology, content editing for the mobile era, and Google’s
video compression codec (VP9), among others.
Wearable technology has become a major trend driven by the widespread adoption of smart devices and support for Bluetooth
4.0 (Bluetooth Smart). This has had a significant impact on the future of smart
TVs and interactive whiteboards, as well as the nature of smart
fitness and smart cars. Electronic products are no longer merely operating as standalone devices; they are collaborating with various devices and cloud services, thereby reshaping traditional industries, products, and services.
Furthermore, it has become commonplace to reexamine the inherent role and mission of a product, scrap it temporarily,
and then reconstruct, rediscover, and reinvent it across industry boundaries to create something entirely new.
