≪Organizing Committee≫

At the 42nd Study Session held on January 21, Ms. Rumi Hirabayashi, a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellow (Tokyo Gakugei University),
gave a presentation titled “Utilization of Digital Tools in Junior High School English Classes
~ An Introduction to Empirical Research Including Overseas Tools ~.”

She spoke about the use of digital tools in English classes at junior high schools in Kanagawa.
According to a 2012 survey, 4.5% of children in regular classrooms are said to have learning difficulties, and it is reported that 2.4% of those with learning disabilities have reading and writing difficulties.
She explained that
She explained, based on actual data, that difficulties with reading and writing are actually related to the structure of language.
She then introduced a pilot study utilizing Microsoft tablet PCs and reported that the results demonstrated a positive impact on learning.
