≪Steering Committee≫

The 14th Subcommittee Meeting was held on August 23.
At this meeting, Mr. Masao Nishioka of the Awaji City Board of Education gave a presentation on “Initiatives of the Awaji City Frontier Project.”

Under the theme “Creating Lessons That Broaden and Deepen Children’s Learning” — ICT That Anyone Can Easily Use —
Awaji City is taking a pioneering approach to creating learning environments and schools suited for the 21st century.
To achieve this, the city utilizes tablet devices to improve each student’s academic performance and information literacy
and to nurture individuals capable of thriving in 21st-century society. To achieve this, changes in both classroom instruction and teachers are necessary; therefore, the city has established an Education Center and is actively conducting teacher training sessions, information exchange meetings, and open classes.
In classes using iPads, students’ interest, motivation, and concentration have improved, and a deeper understanding of the material has been observed,
, and we are seeing steady results, such as noticeable changes in classroom instruction.

These pioneering efforts by the municipality have been a great source of encouragement for DiTT and have proven invaluable as we work to promote the ICT environment.
