CANVAS

From a post in April 2013

I'm posting my past Facebook posts here as notes.

April 17
, 2013.
This morning was my second appearance on “Tokudane!” Sho Sakurai was on the show today, and the theme was “Physical Beauty”! So
my heart was racing for a different reason, too—haha
. Anyway, tonight, Wednesday, April 17, from 7:55 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.,
TV Tokyo’s “Snap” will be featuring the Workshop Collection.
I’m not sure exactly what the segment will be like, but since they followed the volunteers who helped out closely, I’m really looking forward to it.

April 15
, 2013: NHK E-Tele’s new show, “Nozy’s Inspiration Workshop.” I finally got around to watching it!
It was quite a while ago, but the show’s producer came to our office and said, “I want to make a show that’s like CANVAS!” I was
sooo happy.I’d
been looking forward to seeing
what kind of show it would turn out to be, and “This program values the process, not the end result.
It’s not about how well you can follow a manual to make something; rather, it focuses on the children’s thought processes—how they
sense the characteristics of the materials and, based on that, come up with creations that reflect their own personalities.
By closely observing everyday objects around them and discovering new ‘joy’ within them, children discover their own ideas and sense of beauty through creative play that begins there.”
Ah, that’s exactly what CANVAS values.
I’m truly delighted. I
highly recommend this show♪

April 10
, 2013: Today was my first time appearing on “Tokudane!” as a commentator.
I was so nervous that I ended up rambling a bit…
but everyone on the show—both the cast and the staff—was truly so warm
and welcoming.
I was also really happy to hear Mr. Ogura say “Amatatsu!” live and
to be the first to hear Dave’s brand-new joke♪
I was also impressed by how the show ran so smoothly, with instructions given down to the second!

April 5
, 2013: The ILCA (Innovation, Learning, Creativity, and Arts) school, launched at the initiative of Kenji Iino, began.
I was given the great honor
—and I’m humbled by the opportunity—to speak during the time slot (April 13) originally scheduled for Mr. Iino. I hope to share some stories about the game-making workshop he led.
