- [September 2] “‘Easy to Read’ Means Many Things—Reflecting on Developmental Dyslexia and Learning Environments Through the MyType Project”
Tomorrow's Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium is titled “There Is No Single Definition of ‘Easy to Read’—Reflections on Developmental Dyslexia and the Learning Environment from the MyType Project.”
"The 'difficulty reading' experienced by people with developmental dyslexia stems not only from their individual cognitive characteristics but also, to some extent, from their interaction with instructional materials and the learning environment."
Through the "MyType Project," children with developmental dyslexia have collaborated with designers and font experts to explore characters and layouts that are "easy to read" for each individual.
For this symposium, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Atsushi Hasegawa, Professor at Musashino Art University and Representative Director of Concent Co., Ltd. He will introduce the diversity of “readability” that has emerged from these practical initiatives, and we will explore an educational approach that allows everyone to choose a learning environment that suits them best.
Furthermore, through the “MyType ID” concept—which allows learners to use display settings tailored to their individual needs across various learning environments, such as digital textbooks—we will explore the potential for “personalized learning” in which educational materials adapt to each individual learner. We hope you will join us.
