Snack Nanako

Snack Nanako is opening.

Perhaps because there used to be a snack bar in front of my parents' house,

I’d always said, “I want to be a hostess at a snack bar someday,” but before I knew it, that “someday” had already arrived.

And ever since I announced, “I’m going to open a snack bar!” time has just been passing by,

Everyone brought over bottles of alcohol, saying, “This is for when we open Snack Nanako!”

It just so happened that yesterday, KMD Graduate School Chair Minamizawa took a photo for me next to the “Snack Nanako” sign, in preparation for the grand opening, so

Personally, I would have preferred to take a photo when I was dressed properly for a snack bar, rather than in casual clothes like this, but

It doesn't look like it'll ever start if I just wait for it, so

Inspired by this photo, I’ll be launching Snack Nanako starting July 7th next month.

Snack Nanako is a small, nighttime "third place" opening in Takeshiba.

Snack bars in Japan aren't just places to drink.

A public sphere unique to Japan, where people of different generations and backgrounds naturally interact, sometimes alleviating isolation and helping to foster a sense of security in the community.

That kind of laid-back sense of community is what Snack Nanako wants to cherish as well.

It’s not to learn something, or to meet someone, or to expand my business.

Of course, there might be nights when that happens.

But first and foremost, it’s just about getting together, drinking, eating, talking, and spending time together.

Also, from time to time, you might host a special themed night or a gathering centered around a particular person.

But (almost) every 7th of the month is a day just for getting together, drinking, eating, talking, and spending time together.

A night that’s just a little special—but not too special.

The membership fee is 3,000 yen. Please bring one item to share.

What we bring to the table isn't just things—it's also time, experience, and curiosity.

That's why Snack Nanako is a place created by all the participants together.

Take just a half-step back from your busy daily life, and you’ll find yourself breathing more deeply.

Culture and people coexist in harmony with nature, and a small light shines.

I hope to continue having evenings like that, at a leisurely pace, here in Takeshiba.

There's no specific purpose. If you come by, you might find something.

First off, next month—on July 7 at 7:00 a.m.—we’ll be kicking things off slowly and quietly,

Feel free to stop by. More details to come.
