[December 13] “Generative AI in Education and Research: International and National Trends”

Next week's Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium is titled "Generative AI in Education and Research: International and National Trends."

While interest in generative AI is growing and its use and adoption are expanding across various fields, regulatory approaches regarding AI—including generative AI—vary from country to country.

At the G7 Hiroshima Summit held in May 2023, the responsible use of generative AI was also a major agenda item. The “Hiroshima AI Process”—a forum for discussing generative AI with the participation of relevant international organizations—was launched, and the results are scheduled to be compiled by the end of 2023. However, since each country’s approach to generative AI differs,it has been pointed out that reaching a consensus may take time.

The Learning of Tomorrow Data Working Group has also been conducting research and discussions on the actual state of generative AI use in the education sector across various countries.Next week, we will welcome Mr. Takao Toda of Deloitte Tohmatsu Financial Advisory LLC, who conducted the survey, to speak about the current status of generative AI regulations and usage in the education and research sectors, both internationally and within individual countries. We hope you will join us.
