Finals and Awards Ceremony / The 8th National Elementary and Junior High School Programming Competition & The 2nd National High School Programming Competition

We held the finals and awards ceremony for the 8th National Elementary and Junior High School Programming Competition and the 2nd National High School Programming Competition.

Congratulations to all the winners!

The Grand Prix-winning entry was a VR festival created to introduce Japanese culture to students from our sister school in Taiwan. It was created by a second-year student at Omi Kyodai High School, who is also the president of the school’s computer club.

The runner-up prize went to a university hospital management simulation game. It was created by a sixth-grader.

The Excellence Award in the Elementary School Division went to a game in which players solve math problems to escape from prison. It was created in Processing by a third-grade elementary school student.

The Excellence Award in the Middle School Division went to an application capable of generating flowchart images from Japanese-language text data. It was created by a second-year middle school student.

The Excellence Award in the High School Division went to a first-year student at a National College of Technology for developing the “All-IoT System,” which allows all home appliances to be controlled via a smartphone.

With such a wide variety of entries, it would be reckless to judge them all by the same standard… and so the judging panel became deadlocked.

In other words, all of the selected works were of such a high caliber that it would not have been surprising if every single one had been awarded the Grand Prize.

Congratulations, everyone!
