“CHO KOUKA” and the Agreement Signing Ceremony with Kuwana City

The “CHO KOUKA” Project is a joint research initiative between RIKEN AIP and iU & B Lab. In collaboration with Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, the project will use AI to write the lyrics and compose the music for the school song of “Tado Gakuen,” a newly established compulsory education school. This is likely the world’s first attempt of its kind?!

Today was the signing ceremony for the agreement with Kuwana City. Members of the media gathered, and I received more questions than I had anticipated ^^;

Using AI technology, we will explore how to create an evolving school song that is appropriate for an era of diversifying values.We will approach the creation of this school song through “co-creation between humans and AI.” Rather than blindly fearing AI, we want to engage with it positively, co-create new value together, and build a bright future! We hope to convey this message through the “CHO KOUKA.”

We hope to create this school song together with everyone in the community through a process of trial and error, and that it will become a song cherished by all of you.

We’re having a lyric-writing meeting this Friday. It seems we’ve already received over 700 keyword suggestions from the children of Tado and members of the local community to include in the lyrics. I can’t wait!

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
