[October 25] “Neurodiversity Visualized by AI: Toward an Education That Harnesses Diversity”

Next week's Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium will feature Ms. Shie Nagai, Specially Appointed Professor at the International Research Institute for Neurointelligence, University of Tokyo.

“Neurodiversity” is a term derived from the combination of “neuro” (brain/nervous system) and “diversity,” and it refers to the concept of viewing and accepting the differences in each individual’s unique characteristics as a form of diversity. In particular, there is a growing movement both in Japan and abroad to view the characteristics of developmental disorders—such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities—as unique traits and differences, and to create environments where everyone can fully utilize their diverse abilities.

By combining research on artificial intelligence with research conducted by individuals with developmental disabilities, Professor Nagai—who, as a research leader, is working to make the characteristics of developmental disabilities—which have traditionally been difficult for both individuals and those around them to perceive—more visible—will deliver a talk titled “Neurodiversity Made Visible by AI: Toward an Education That Embraces Diversity.”

We hope you'll join us.
