- Social Gathering of the Parliamentary League for Education and ICT
Social gathering of the Parliamentary League for ICT in Education.
Lawmakers from across party lines, representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and the Digital Agency, as well as private-sector experts—a total of about 40 people—gathered for their first in-person social gathering in quite some time.
Our first meeting was held in November 2013. We began under the name “Bipartisan Parliamentary Policy Study Group Aimed at Promoting the Use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Education.” It’s been 10 years since then! As I prepared the slides to be shown at the social gathering, I looked back at photos chronicling our journey so far, and it was a deeply moving experience.
Learning of Tomorrow has long advocated that we should pursue a “catch-up” approach to educational ICT adoption—that is, advancing both infrastructure development and cutting-edge reforms—and this catch-up has now been rapidly realized due to the external pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving forward, we hope to ride the wave of generative AI to build a world-leading educational environment.
Once again, Professor Ishibashi’s office and Learning of Tomorrow served as the secretariat. Great job, everyone!
