Learning of Tomorrow [June 22 Event] “Yokohama City University COI-NEXT Initiatives for Young People Struggling with Life” This week's Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium will feature Professor Tomoyuki Miyazaki from the Center for Research and Industry-Academia Collaboration at Yokohama City University.
Professor Miyazaki plans to establish a Metaverse High School and is currently seeking teaching materials that can be tested in the Metaverse High School, as well as partner companies for joint development.

In response to the growing challenges young people face in navigating life and the increasing prevalence of mental health issues in recent years, a project has been launched to build a metaverse platform (MeeTaa) that serves as a space offering counseling and care with low psychological barriers.
Our goal is to help young people who feel it is difficult to navigate life by providing support content through MeeTaa, with the aim of fostering a future in which young people can develop resilience. This project was selected for the full-scale co-creation category of the Reiwa 4 “Program to Support the Creation of Co-creation Spaces (COI-NEXT),” a public call for proposals issued by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
Mr. Miyazaki, the project leader, will speak about the details of this project and its future direction.

After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
