"RRR." Directed by S.S. Rajamouli.
Set in British colonial India, this entertaining film portrays two heroes who denounce the structures of oppression and fight to defend freedom and human dignity.
It’s a nonstop, three-hour ride at full throttle. A film with overwhelming intensity, as if every scene were a climax.
Beam—a passionate figure who, with a single song, embodies a wild and indomitable spirit, leading ferocious wild animals to wreak havoc at a government residence party in order to rescue a girl abducted by the British military, and inciting the crowd.
Rama possesses both the intelligence to infiltrate the ranks of those in power while harboring a noble cause within, seeking an opportunity to rise up against them, and the superhuman physical abilities to single-handedly subdue a crowd of thousands in hand-to-hand combat.
Rama, who was willing to sacrifice even his own kin for the greater good, rescues his best friend and his child, and, inspired by this, Bhima awakens to the cause.
Despite all the twists and turns, those two were destined to find their way to each other…
While the song-and-dance scenes—which have become a hallmark of Indian cinema—are truly spectacular, they also serve as powerful moments in which cultural identity is used to challenge white supremacy.
"Learning to read and write" is my final wish, after all ^^
