Establishment of B Lab on Tanegashima

B Lab Tanegashima is now up and running! With the cooperation of the Nishinoomote City Hall, we are launching as a research hub for the “Co-JUNKAN” platform, which aims for “Beyond Zero Carbon” across the entire island of Tanegashima.

B Lab Tanegashima actively promotes regional revitalization to transform local systems into sustainable models. We aim to create a “Platinum Society” that involves all island residents and, in particular, to realize “ESG”—which goes beyond the SDGs. In other words, we seek to ensure that initiatives undertaken autonomously by the community contribute not only to environmental and ecosystem conservation, food production, employment, and the sustainable development of local traditions and culture—but also lead to the achievement of net-zero carbon. We are launching B Lab activities as a hub dedicated to developing and implementing the “CoJUNKAN” platform, which is essential for building a society that goes “beyond zero carbon.”In particular, as an “island that generates its own energy resources,” we will establish a model that embodies ecology, involves all island residents, creates jobs, and serves as a model for a local community that is rich in both material and spiritual terms.
