On Saturday, January 28, we held the event “Don’t Let the Cold Get You Down: Let’s Make Scarecrows to Protect Our Flowers.”

Do you know what a scarecrow is? In kanji, it's written as "案山子."

It protects plants from birds and other animals.

Let’s make scarecrows to protect the seeds we’ve planted in everyone’s gardens.

Choose your favorite scarecrow from among the ones that differ slightly in shape and color.

Combining clothes that have become too small and pieces of fabric to make clothes for a scarecrow.

Making hair out of yarn, or creating ribbon decorations.

I made some cute scarecrows and some really scary scarecrows.

Finally, we'll put a scarecrow in the garden.

I hope the seeds and bulbs everyone planted sprout nicely!

The next GREENWORKSHOP is on February 25. The theme is “In Search of Spring: Let’s Make Bird Calls and Set Off on a Wildlife Exploration Mission!” We hope you’ll join us!
