[September 14] “From VR to the Metaverse: Toward a Post-COVID Society”

This week's Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium marks its 100th edition!

This week, we will be speaking with Professor Emeritus Michitaka Hirose of the University of Tokyo—a leading authority on VR research and the project leader of the Service VR Project at the University of Tokyo’s Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology—on the topic “From VR to the Metaverse: Toward a Post-COVID Society.”

Back in college, even though I was in a different department, I took Professor Hirose’s class. When I ran into him later, he said, “Oh, you’re the one who was sleeping in class in that bright red dress.” I don’t think he remembers, but I’ll never forget it!

Learning of Tomorrow Online Lunch Symposium. With schools still closed en masse due to the pandemic, we launched this as a casual lunch event limited to 100 people in the hope of sharing helpful initiatives—but it filled up within an hour.We quickly upgraded our Zoom plan to accommodate 500 participants, and since then, we’ve had 300 to 500 people join us every week—before we knew it, we’d held 100 sessions! ^^ Thank you all for joining us every week.

So, we look forward to seeing you all again this week.
