- [Report] Part 2 of the 87th Session: “Boldly Tackling Challenges in Japanese Education at a World Natural Heritage Site”
On April 27, 2022, Learning of Tomorrowhosted an online symposium titled “The Education at Yakushima Oozora High School: Cultivating the Intuition and Empathy Needed to Envision the Future,” featuring Kenichiro Mogi, principal of Yakushima Oozora High School and a neuroscientist, and Ryohei Kikuchi, the school’s vice principal.
In the first half of the symposium, after Mr. Mogi sharply pointed out the challenges facing education in Japan, Mr. Kikuchi gave a presentation on the school’s educational philosophy of “becoming the kind of adult you want to be.” The second half featured a question-and-answer session with the participants.
Here's a look at what happened in the second half.
