- [Report] Part 1 of the 87th Session: “Boldly Tackling Challenges in Japanese Education at a World Natural Heritage Site”
On April 27, 2022, Learning of Tomorrowhosted an online symposium titled “The Education at Yakushima Oozora High School: Cultivating the Intuition and Empathy Needed to Envision the Future,” featuring Dr. Kenichiro Mogi, principal of Yakushima Oozora High School and a neuroscientist, and Ryohei Kikuchi, the school’s vice principal.
In the first half of the symposium, Mr. Mogi offered a sharp analysis of the challenges facing education in Japan, followed by a presentation by Mr. Kikuchi on the school’s educational philosophy of “becoming the adult you want to be.” The second half featured a question-and-answer session with the participants.
Here's a look at the first half of the event.
