The “Platinum Grand Prize” recognizes, through an award ceremony, initiatives by local governments, companies, and other organizations nationwide that solve social and regional challenges—whether through the creation of new industries driven by innovation or through imaginative strategies—and that embody, or are striving to embody, the vision of a “Platinum Society.” Furthermore, by widely publicizing these initiatives as models of a “Platinum Society,” the award aims to foster understanding and acceptance of the vision and concrete actions needed to realize a “Platinum Society.” It has been held annually since 2013.
