Class at Kaifu Elementary School

At the request of Kaifu Elementary School—where students are studying using Mitsumura Shoten’s Japanese language textbooks—I taught a class to the sixth graders.

It's strange to teach a class based on my own writing.

I visited “Nonami,” a favorite spot among surfers, to try the grilled chicken recommended by the kids at Kaifu Elementary School. If you’re planning a trip to Kaiyo Town, you absolutely must check this place out! I’d love to get it to go and eat it every night!

Next, we headed to Marine Jam—recommended by Mr. Mizouchi, who, like us, is in charge of all ICT infrastructure at Kaifu Elementary School and has been incredibly helpful to us this time—where we enjoyed seeing coral and tropical fish from a glass-bottom boat. Seeing this really makes me want to go diving next time.

And, thanks to Ms. Yoshida from Dual School, who helped coordinate everything this time, and Ms. Takahata from Mirai School, who recommended it, we went shrimp fishing in the river. We even caught an eel while we were at it, though apparently that’s a rare occurrence. We deep-fried these little long-armed shrimp.

It's best to base your actions on information from the locals!

The coworking space I used for this week’s “Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium” stream seems to be one of the companies participating in the Yoshimoto initiative, so I’ll make sure to check that out next time.

For now, I'm still grilling Awa-O chicken every night.
