[Report] March 14: “Straw + 〇〇?”

On March 14, we held the “Straw + 〇〇?” event!

The star of this story is… the straw!

I usually use this straw when I drink something, but,

This time, let's use this material to our heart's content.

■Preschool Class

Let's try making shapes with straws!

△、□、○…！？

I wonder what else I can make?

Butterflies, fishing, rackets… transforming into all sorts of things

And then, as you keep connecting straw after straw after straw…

There were so many people that they didn't even fit on the screen—it was a huge hit!

　

■Elementary School Class

Straws have those "pleats" that feel rough to the touch, don't they?

When I stretched and compressed the bellows, it made a sound!

I wonder if I can make other sounds with a straw?

If you connect the straws, you can blow into them and make a sound!

By cutting slits in the straws and coloring them, we turned them into original musical instruments.

　

If you have any extra straws from the kit, be sure to give the rest of the project a try!

(Please do not use the straws we sent for eating or drinking.)

He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
