[Report] Preschool Class: “A Fruit Picture Book No One Has Ever Seen Before”

From a CANVAS Facebook post

*******************************************

In January, we held a painting program (Guest Instructor: Ikuko Matsuo (Ikuchan-sensei))!

Today, we're making "A Fruit Encyclopedia No One Has Ever Seen."

We've all seen and eaten fruit.

So, what do you mean by “never seen before”?

This time, while live-streaming the in-person event online…

Some of our friends even joined in from home~♪

We waved to each other—both those in the audience and those online—and,

After saying hello, the workshop begins!

■Something I've never seen before…???

If something you've never seen before suddenly appeared right in front of you, what kind of expression would you make?

This is what happens!

All you kids, with your eyes wide open and surprised expressions on your faces ^ ^

■ Do you know what a banana is? Well, what about “Wanana”?

The banana everyone knows is,

Something yellow, soft, and sweet.

But what we're making today is

"A Picture Book of Fruits You've Never Seen."

So, even though the banana is yellow,

A different color might be okay, too.

It's okay if it's soft, but,

It might be okay if it's hard or as big as an elephant.

What Ms. Iku-chan Discovered

What is “Wanana”?

A banana that's crunchy like wakame??

What the heck is that~~!

When I ask, "Would you like to try it?"

So many kids are saying, “I want to try it!”

Let's all let our imaginations run wild,

Let's think freely and draw~~~!!!!

■Drawing Together: Parents and Children

In the preschool class, the children will work with their parents to think of fruits they’ve never seen before.

I was so nervous right before I started drawing…

Even kids who have a hard time getting started

As I watched my mom and dad drawing,

Oh, I just thought of something…!

Silently drawing side by side, or…

While chatting…

Why don't we try doing it this way?

while giving each other advice

It was such a wonderful time.

In the end, the research institute turns into Fruit Park!?

We had a great time picking fruits we’d never seen before—fruits that everyone discovered!

This time, some kids participated from home, and

There were also some first-time attempts.

See you next month!
