- Book Cover Challenge 3
Since Professor Takeo Doi—who has been so incredibly helpful to me—kindly passed the baton to me, I’m posting a book cover. I love
picture books and have started creating Digital Ehon books, so I’m sticking to the “picture book” theme.
On the third day, it was Ryoji Arai’s “Slowly and Steadily.”

The rules are: “Post one of your favorite books every day for seven days. Upload just a picture of the cover—without any description of the book—and invite one Facebook friend each day to join this challenge.”
I’d
like to connect with all the picture book authors I’m friends with on Facebook. Since I’ll be introducing your work and mentioning your names without asking,
if you happen to see this post and feel like joining in, please do.
So, for Day 3, it’s tupera tupera.
When you think of tupera tupera, you think of “Noji’s Spark of Inspiration” on NHK E-Tele.
As for their picture books, they’ve had hit after hit—including *The Polar Bear’s Underpants*, the world’s first book you read by taking off your underwear; *Panda Sento*, a slightly surreal book featuring a not-so-cute panda; and *Face Notebook*, where children from all over the world draw faces—
but my personal favorite is *Shimashima Island*.

I collaborated with tupera tupera on a workshop titled “Thinking About the People of Shibuya Mirai” as part of Workshop Collection 11.
We also had a conversation together.
I heard lots of behind-the-scenes stories about how their masterpieces came to be. There are 12 episodes in total, so please check them out if you’re interested!
