[Workshop Report]
Friday, July 19, at the after-school program facility
“Futo Matryoshka”
We held a workshop!
?? Do you know what a matryoshka is??
They’re Russian dolls—when you open one, smaller and smaller dolls keep popping out, right? Today, let’s all use “futo” of various sizes to make our own “Futo Matryoshka”!
To start the workshop, we mixed together three different sizes of “futo” so everyone could see the differences in shape and size. We asked the kids to pick out the one they wanted, and everyone helped each other find them.Let’s compare them! What’s the difference?
Once you’ve found yours, let’s start making them!!!
Secure the lid of the “futo” with tape, then cut a straight line below it with scissors—and there you have the lid! Once it’s done, use a pen to draw pictures and create a story, or just draw whatever you like! What should we make?~
Once you’ve drawn three pictures, I’ve brought out seven different sizes of paper cones—from the smallest to the very largest—so let’s keep making matryoshka dolls!
When making a new one, take a good look at the shape and ask yourself, “Will this size fit inside the one I’ve already made?”
As we went along, we got the hang of it, and the matryoshka dolls started coming together one after another.
The workshop ended with a viewing session!! Let’s all take a look at the matryoshka dolls our friends made. “Look what I made~~ It’s so cute!” “I wonder what’s inside next~~ Wow!!”
Today, we used envelopes to make matryoshka dolls. The envelopes that usually deliver letters to everyone turned into matryoshka dolls.
It was another fun time filled with everyone’s smiles! Thank you very much ^^
