- [Report] “Creative Activities Using Notebooks” (Preschool Class) at the University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus
From a CANVAS Facebook post
*******************************************
In April, the first “Research Institute” session of the fiscal year for the University of Tokyo Hongo Preschool Class was “Creative Play with Notebooks.”
This is an art program where children use their hands to thoroughly enjoy the process of “making” things.
The program is provided by the Fukasawa Art Institute.
Here’s a question for all our Kid Researchers.
What do you usually use a notebook for?
Drawing pictures!
Writing!
That’s right. But today, we’re going to use them a little differently—in a special way.
With that, a three-dimensional notebook shape appeared.
Today, let’s use our notebooks to make shapes like this.
After watching a demonstration of how to make it, it was the Kids’ Researchers’ turn.
Take a notebook, roll it up loosely, and secure it with tape.
As you get further into the pages, you’ll need to get creative about how to hold it in place with your hands.
Some Kids’ Researchers were carefully securing each page, one by one.
